After leaving Mark at the Cricket Club we set off to take the Wong Nai Chung Gap Trail, which he had pointed out to us while showing us round the club. We'd never have known it was there otherwise. This ran alongside and above the club and back towards Happy Valley - in all about 2km.
Today it's an oasis of calm above the city, but in WW2 was the site of fierce fighting between the Japanese and the Allied forces. The photos and plan give some idea of how bad the terrain must have been for fighting in but how important a strategic site it was for both sides.
Steve managed to keep awake. Or did he?? |
High above the Trail this Des. Res. Yours for a cool £5m. |
